Why does food appear in stool?
This is a natural query which may appear unknowingly to your brain when it comes to having undigested food. This could be because of several reasons but could potentially cause problems to your health as well. It happens with change in bowel habits, during diarrhoea and causes sudden weight loss and digestive problems. Mostly food appears in stool when it is highly fibrous in nature such as corns or body in unable to break them down to produce energy. Here are some reasons mentioned for this issue.

1. High Fibre Foods
Fibre is generally considered very healthy for the body but sometimes it can be indigestible part of the food. This is because it needs lots of enzymes and bile juices to break down fibre to produce energy in the body. If you are having digestive problems such as constipation or diarrhoea, the body is unable to digest fibre rich foods and it goes into your stool as a result. This is common when the food does not break down properly and gets stored in intestinal walls of the digestive tract. High fibre food consist of the following-

- Certain grains
2. Eating too quickly
When a person eats too quickly or in a hurry, there are chances that the food remains undigested and appears in stool. A person may eat or swallow food very quickly at times and sometimes without chewing it, this makes it difficult for digestive system to breakdown food properly. As a result of improper digestion, the food goes directly into stool.
To avoid this condition, one must chew his food properly until it’s totally broken down. Also slow down your eating process and focus on taking small bites which can prevent digestive issues.
3. Crohn’s Disease
One of the reasons for having undigested food in your stool can also be because of crohn’s disease and inflammatory bowel diseases. It causes inflammation in the digestive tract because of which it results to symptoms of this disease.
