ColourPop Wanna Bee Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Wanna Bee

ColourPop Wanna Bee 9-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($14.00 for 0.3 oz.) is a new, limited edition nine-pan eyeshadow palette that’s currently an Ulta exclusive, though it’ll eventually be available directly through the brand. It contained five matte eyeshadows and four shimmer eyeshadows. Two of the shimmers were sheerer and/or more prone to fallout, while the mattes were pigmented, blendable, and not too powdery.

Pollen 4 U

Pollen 4 U is faded peach with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. I’d almost say it was a mix of peach and beige because there was a real muted quality to the shade. It had opaque pigmentation paired with a soft, somewhat powdery texture, but it was substantial enough to have good adhesion to bare skin and wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Honeycomb

Honeycomb is a medium peachy-orange base with lighter, true gold shimmer and a metallic finish. The texture was moderately-dense, lightly creamy, and a touch on the thicker side, so it had to be smoothed out a little more than other shimmers. It had opaque color coverage that lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Buzzed

Buzzed is a light, yellowy orange with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that was easily built up to full coverage. The texture was smooth, velvety, and somewhat powdery, though it did not seem particularly prone to fallout during application and blending. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Sweet Much

Sweet Much is a light-medium yellow with moderate, warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had medium color payoff that could be built up a bit but was best used with a fingertip or a dampened brush. The texture was lightly emollient and on the thinner side. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Worker B

Worker B is a medium, caramel brown with warmer, orange undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had an incredibly finely-milled, smooth consistency that was lightly powdery in the pan but not prone to fallout or sheering out. I had no trouble getting full pigmentation in one layer. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Oh Beehive

Oh Beehive is a deep copper with moderate, warm orange undertones and flecks of gold sparkle over a metallic sheen. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation, but it was drier and moderately prone to fallout. I’d recommend using this with a dampened brush and/or adhesive spray to minimize fallout. It stayed on well for eight hours but had light fallout over time.

So Nectar

So Nectar is a rich, medium orange with moderate, warm undertones and lighter, golden-orange shimmer throughout. The eyeshadow had opaque color payoff that adhered well to bare skin and blended out with ease. The texture was moderately-dense, lightly creamy but not overly thick, so it was easy to pick up product with a dry brush. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.
